Upcoming Workshop:
Sign-ups have begun for my first (and maybe only?!) workshop of 2024. Click here: The Alchemic Union of Text and Image with Morgain Bailey & Liz Titone (Online Learning – Six Sessions)
I am looking forward to co-teaching this with Liz. She is an amazing and empathetic teacher. We have worked hard on figuring out how to create a helpful and kind space on Zoom that helps to alleviate some of the Zoom burnout that many of us have experienced since the pandemic. Here’s the workshop description:
Photographic images and written words have an ancient and dynamic bond. This union is alchemic in nature – their pairing powerfully ignites and illuminates our understanding of the artist’s intention. Getting on the right path towards a successful outcome when working with text and image requires experimentation and an open-minded willingness to experience new ways of working. This workshop provides the framework for cultivating a multidisciplinary practice of uniting photography with text.
Join artists Morgain Bailey and Liz Titone for six weeks of collaborative and supportive online learning. During this workshop, we will guide you through carefully designed exercises, including:
-Independent and collaborative learning experiences designed to expand your creative practice
-Writing in response to photography and making photos inspired by text
-Learning about artists who work with blended media (with a focus on BIPOC and LGBTQ+ artists)
-Visual literacy activities designed to strengthen current skills
-Deepening of your existing abilities to provide and receive positive and helpful feedback
-Leaning in to working creatively in the physical realm while embracing discomfort and personal growth
At the end of this workshop, you will emerge with a body of new work, expanded resources and the inspiration needed to boldly incorporate text into your artistic practice.
This course is strictly limited to 10 students.
Zine:
My most recent limited-edition zine / performance art piece has 16 copies left. You can pick one up here:
https://morgainbaileystudio.bigcartel.com/product/flower-child-a-performance-in-ten-pages
This zine is a printed performance of myself thinking critically about living with the racialization of whiteness, hippies and American back-to-the-land cultures. If you like daylilies, there is an extra bonus of daylily content.
I hope all is well. Take it easy, rest and get off social media for a while. Your brain and body will thank you.
XO -Morgain
Oh wow, Morgain, this is AWESOME and I'd love to do it, but I can't.
Maybe one day, if you're still offering these types of online classes.
